Coral Gables Hurricane Claim settled

On Hardee rd in Coral Gables a two story building, that houses the Chabad at University of Miami, suffered hurricane damage. When the insurance company came out to inspect the property damage they said the damage amounted to less than the hurricane deductible and that the roof was not damaged by the hurricane. We provided our estimate that called for a new roof plus repairs for the interior areas damaged. We continued pursuing the claim via the appraisal process and had to take the case to the Umpire. After some tough negotiations we were able to recover over six figures, that amounts to over, ten times what the insurance company initially estimated the damages would cost. Fire claim settled for 7 times more than what insurance initially paid.

An insured reached out to us after she got a payment for her fire claim. She had been referred to us by another Pensacola FL property owner who we helped with a hurricane Sally claim (we helped recover 4x for the Hurricane Sally Claim). Upon reviewing the details of the fire claim we determined that the claim was grossly underpaid. Generally speaking a property insurance policy is supposed to enable you to return to “pre loss conditions.” You’re not paying for a policy to help patch up and do minimal or temporary repairs. In this case a pan on the stove caught fire. The insured grabbed the pan and ran outside to the patio. In this process debris fell from the pan and damaged the hardwood floors inside the home. Outside, the pan damaged the wood patio deck. The carrier initially paid for a minimal amount of the cabinets, wood floors and some paint. As Public adjusters we are required to make sure you receive the full benefits your insurance policy entitles you to. Our estimate called for the replacement of the entire kitchen as you can’t just replace a few cabinets and consider that “pre loss condition.” The heat of the fire had left splashes of melted plastic on the tile backsplash. Some of the cabinets had gotten warped due to the heat of the fire. We also called for all the matching wood floors to be replaced as well as smoke remediation and paint all the interior. The existing paint absorbs the smell of smoke there is no way the smell of smoke be will be removed without painting the entire interior. We also included in our estimate the patio deck. With the help of the Almighty we were able to negotiate a settlement that was seven times what the carrier initially paid for the damages. Need help with your property damage claim?
